Steel Arrives. At Long Last!

We’ve been waiting for weeks and weeks for the steel to be made that forms the majority of the sub floor for the living pod. Like since January. It’s been so frustrating as it has held up progress considerably on this side of the house. But at long last it arrived today. Well half of it anyway and enough for the guys to get underway.

Finally the hiab backed down the drive with our steel on it and lowered it into place.

A sight for sore eyes! The steel getting lowered into place.

Despite being massive chunks of steel, they need to be millimetre perfect to fit into place. Steely Craig realises he needs to fine tune things a little to get this one in.

And grind the block work a tad. And she's in.

And before you know it, after weeks of waiting, the front half of our living pod sub floor takes shape. Love the huge cantilevered section at the front of the house, extending 3m out over the last set of piles.

Then the builders put things into overdrive, whacking up the rest of the timber sub floor in a matter of no time at all.

  1. Awesome guys can’t wait to see the finished house ! Your colour choice looks great. I bet you both won’t want to touch another paint brush or roller after this ! Tell Kylie to wear plastic gloves. I hated scrubbing paint off my hands each night after painting our place. Painting has to be the worst but also most satisfying thing about house Reno :)
